Kitchen Assistant

About the Role

As a Kitchen Assistant at Lady Northcote Discovery Camp, you will play a vital part in our catering team, ensuring our campers are fuelled for their adventures with nutritious and delicious meals. You’ll be serving up smiles alongside food, making every mealtime a memorable part of the camp experience.

Key responsibilities include:

• Meal preparation: Preparing and providing meals, including catering to special dietary needs to ensure everyone feels included.
• Food handling: Assembling and preparing ingredients with care, precision, and a focus on quality.
• Safety first: Following best practices outlined in our food safety program to maintain a healthy environment.
• Living our values: Upholding the values of the Y in every interaction and task.

Shifts:

•  This is a casual position paying $31.18 p.h + super + Y Benefits!
• Ideally days and hours are Thursday, Friday and Saturday's between 7am-2:30pm or 4:30pm - 7:30pm. 

About You

We are looking for a motivated individual who loves working as part of a team and is committed to excellence. You don't need to be a master chef; if you have enthusiasm and a proactive attitude, we want to hear from you.

• Proactive attitude: You can take initiative and work unsupervised when needed.

• Experience: Knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation is highly regarded, but not essential.

About Lady Northcote Discovery Camp

The YMCA Lady Northcote is a Recreation Camp located in Rowsley, just outside of Bacchus Marsh, 67 km west of Melbourne. The surrounding environment is rural. Lady Northcote accommodates a range of groups from 10 up to 250 people and operates all year. The Camp is owned by the State Government of Victoria and managed by YMCA Victoria, under a 21 year lease that concludes in the year 2041. The camp’s outdoor program takes place on the camp site, and the surrounding Brisbane Ranges using a variety of outdoor and adventure based activities.
