A rare opportunity has presented itself within Y Discovery Camps to lead a fantastic, established team, and the business operations at the Lady Northcote Discovery Camp. This live-in role is perfect for an experienced outdoor recreation manager, or somebody who is ready to take the next step in their outdoor recreation career!
About the Camp
The YMCA Lady Northcote is a Recreation Camp located in Rowsley, just outside of Bacchus Marsh, 67 km west of Melbourne. The surrounding environment is rural. Lady Northcote accommodates a range of groups from 10 up to 250 people and operates all year. The Camp is owned by the State Government of Victoria and managed by YMCA Victoria, under a 21 year lease that concludes in the year 2041. The camp’s outdoor program takes place on the camp site, and the surrounding Brisbane Ranges using a variety of outdoor and adventure based activities.
About the Role
Living onsite, the Camp Manager is the key leadership position, responsible for the business operations and development. Fostering continuous improvement and ensuring high quality outcomes across all services within the camp, the Camp Manager will liaise directly with all camp staff, department heads, clients and business partners to deliver service excellence. You will be responsible for:
- Developing, leading, delivering best practice operations and facility management with continual improvement through quality assurance
- Inspiring and motivating camp staff to deliver service excellence by promoting a culture of continuous learning, development and where personal accountability is promoted
- Ensuring that YMCA policies, procedures, work practices and standard operating procedures are being met and followed in all service departments
- Responding to client needs, concerns, complaints and resolving where necessary, as they arise and in a timely fashion
- Upholding the values of the Y at all times
This is a maximum term position with an annual salary package of $130,415 per annum + Super & Y Benefits.
About You
You are a natural problem solver and people leader, with an ability to empower and lead a diverse and dynamic staff team, and manage both internal and external stakeholder relationships with ease. You have a high level of effective time management skills, and are able to work autonomously and independently to achieve agreed outcomes. You possess industry knowledge, demonstrated business acumen, and leadership experience in a camping, outdoor recreational, or hospitality setting.
