Kitchen Assistant

About the Role

As a Kitchen Assistant at Camp Manyung, you will play a vital part in our catering team, ensuring our campers are fueled for their adventures with nutritious and delicious meals. You’ll be serving up smiles alongside food, making every mealtime a memorable part of the camp experience.

Key responsibilities include:

• Meal preparation: Preparing and providing meals, including catering to special dietary needs to ensure everyone feels included.
• Food handling: Assembling and preparing ingredients with care, precision, and a focus on quality.
• Safety first: Following best practices outlined in our food safety program to maintain a healthy environment.
• Living our values: Upholding the values of the Y in every interaction and task.

Shifts:

Standard shifts are generally between Monday - Sunday;

• 7am - 11am
• 7am -2pm
• 4:15pm - 7:15pm

About You

We are looking for a motivated individual who loves working as part of a team and is committed to excellence. You don't need to be a master chef; if you have enthusiasm and a proactive attitude, we want to hear from you.

What you bring to the table:

• Proactive attitude: You can take initiative and work unsupervised when needed.
• Team spirit: You are passionate about teamwork and creating a supportive environment.
• Experience: Knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation is highly regarded, but not essential.
• Commitment: You are dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space for all campers.

About Camp Manyung

Camp Manyung is a recreation camp located in Mt Eliza on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, and managed by YMCA Camps. Catering to schools and groups year-round, the team at Camp Manyung run a variety of programs and activities to suit every group, from snorkeling and kayaking to archery and raft building. Featuring a state-of-the-art recreation centre, flexible and accessible accommodation and picturesque outdoor areas, Camp Manyung is the perfect place to explore the great outdoors.
