The Role
Are you a well-connected business development professional with deep knowledge of the Australian Defence sector? We're seeking an enthusiastic and hands-on Business Development Manager to drive growth within our Defence portfolio.
You will act as the subject matter expert on Defence engagement, providing guidance on best-practice approaches, market requirements, security clearances, and what success looks like as we develop a foothold in this highly specialised sector. Your input will be crucial to setting up the business’ strategy within the sector well.

This is a full-time permanent opportunity based in Sydney, Adelaide, or Perth.
What You'll Be Doing
- Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within the Australian Defence sector.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across Defence, including the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army, Royal Australian Air Force, AUKUS, Defence contractors, and government agencies.
- Leverage existing Defence networks and industry connections to generate new opportunities and expand market presence.
- Provide strategic advice to the business on Defence market engagement, procurement pathways, security requirements, and business development best practices.
- Manage the full business development lifecycle from opportunity identification through to contract award and operational handover.
- Advise internal stakeholders on Defence clearance requirements, compliance obligations, and barriers to entry.
- Monitor market trends, upcoming programs, budget allocations, and competitor activity.
What We're Looking For
- Proven success in a Business Development, Defence Industry, or Strategic Growth role.
- Demonstrated experience developing business within the Australian Defence sector and a strong understanding of Defence procurement processes.
- Practical understanding of Defence security clearances, accreditation requirements, and operational expectations.
- Ability to identify opportunities, influence stakeholders, and convert prospects into long-term partnerships.
- Confident adviser capable of providing guidance to senior leaders on Defence market engagement and positioning.
