Our Branch 

The Sport and Recreation Programs Team encourages Brisbane residents to be active and healthy by delivering accessible, inclusive and engaging physical activity programs across the city. It aims to increase participation, promote physical, mental and social wellbeing, and foster community connection by providing free and low-cost programs that remove barriers and cater to diverse community needs. 

The Role  

The Program Coordinator is primarily responsible for assisting the team in scheduling Active and Healthy activities across Council venues such as parks, pools and halls. In this role, you will develop, promote and monitor the delivery of all program sessions. This will include daily tasks such as scheduling activities within budget, managing contracts, uploading corporate website content, raising purchase orders, processing invoices and conducting activity checks throughout the program. You will be required to liaise with multiple stakeholders, such as providers, to build and maintain relationships to achieve effective outcomes for Brisbane. 

To be successful you will have: 

  • experience in identifying community and social priorities, and developing responses to address these 
  • experience developing, delivering and evaluating community based participation programs and projects 
  • experience in project or program management including managing and monitoring contracts, budgets, timeframes and resources  
  • well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate with others and resolve matters with a range of stakeholders  
  • proven ability to collaborate with your team and proactively provide input and solutions to a range of complex scenarios, 
  • high level administration skills, including experience using Excel, Word, Records Manager, Sharepoint, SAP, Ariba and Trumba  
  • experience in raising purchase orders, processing supplier invoices and managing supplier information using Council systems 
  • proven ability to efficiently manage conflicting priorities and maintain a high standard of work under pressure.  

This role requires a Criminal History Check and ‘C’ Class driver’s licence for the preferred candidate.
