Our Branch
The Compliance and Regulatory Services (CARS) branch contributes to the health, safety and amenity of Brisbane through a range of licensing and regulatory services related to environmental health; land use and built environment; animal management; natural environment; parking regulation; asset use; and contract management. We do this by providing best practice regulatory services that contribute positively to the quality and lifestyle of the city. We are by nature a customer facing community focussed service delivery organisation.
The Role
By joining City Safety’s Parking Compliance Team, you will contribute to a more liveable Brisbane by ensuring the safe movement of vehicles across the city through both proactive and reactive enforcement of illegal parking under state legislation and local laws. You will initiate and coordinate appropriate action, including education, mediation, and or enforcement action with the view to preventing reoccurrence using a variety of compliance tools including mobile enforcement technology. You will be the face of Council, engaging with residents and visitors to provide education to help them understand how to park legally and keep our city moving.
These field-based Compliance Officer positions require you to be highly motivated whilst working outdoors in a fast paced and mostly autonomous workplace.
As a City Safety Parking Officer, you will be responsible for:
- patrolling assigned areas on foot or by motor vehicle
- issuing parking infringement notices on behalf of the Council
- recording and maintaining clear records of enforcement matters
- providing exceptional customer service to the general public
To be successful you will have:
- excellent face to face customer service and interpersonal skills
- an enthusiastic attitude and willingness to learn
- demonstrated ability to make good decisions whilst working under pressure
- computer literacy to enable the use of corporate software and technology in the field
- experience effectively dealing with challenging customer situations.
- excellent organisation and time management skills to patrol designated areas with limited supervision
- strong written skills to create accurate reports to be used as enforcement evidence and good communication skills to present evidence in a formal court setting
- strong observational skills to make sound enforcement decisions, assess safety risk and to interpret parking regulations
- valid 'C' class driver's licence
You will be required to work an 8-week rotating roster, covering shifts between the hours of 6:30am and 11:00pm, including weekends and public holidays.
This role requires a Criminal History Check on preferred candidates and the completion of a pre-employment medical assessment to assess your ability to perform the occupational requirements of the role.
