The Role

Brisbane City Council is entering a significant period of transformation as the city prepares for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This role offers a rare opportunity to shape the financial advice, planning and insight that will support Council’s delivery of major priorities and help create a lasting legacy for Brisbane.

As Strategic Finance Business Partner, 2032 Olympics and Paralympics, you will be a trusted financial advisor to Council executives and senior leaders, providing high-quality analysis, commercial advice and strategic insight to support informed decision-making across complex and high-profile programs of work.

Working at the connection point between finance, strategy and operations, you will play a key role in aligning financial planning, investment decisions and performance insights with Council’s organisational objectives and the broader opportunities associated with Brisbane 2032.

This is a career-defining opportunity for an experienced finance professional who can build trusted relationships, influence senior stakeholders and translate financial information into practical advice that supports sustainable outcomes for Council and the community.

To be successful you will have:

• demonstrated evidence of capabilities in Council’s Leadership Blueprint to deliver performance excellence and a values-based culture
• extensive practical experience in the effective delivery of financial and managerial accounting services including business planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis and reporting
• highly developed business and commercial acumen with an excellent ability achieve effective results in a complex and evolving organisation
• proven ability to influence and shape strategic direction through thought leadership and effective management styles
• highly developed interpersonal skills with an exceptional ability to negotiate, consult, coordinate, and communicate effectively across all levels of staff and management
• exceptional analytical, research and problem-solving skills including developing, reviewing, analysing, and presenting financial and program information
• proven success in building and nurturing a high performing team in a matrix style reporting structure.

This role requires a Criminal History Check

You may be required to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment to assess your ability to perform the genuine occupational requirements of the role.
