Location: Coorparoo Ward Office (this role is 5 days in person at Coorparoo Ward office)

Senior Ward Officer
As leader of a small team, your role as Senior Ward Officer will be to deliver a highly effective administration and customer service operation, manage the Ward Office workload and achieve Key Performance Markers as set by the Councillor. This opportunity will empower you to deliver the vision set by the Councillor to create an amazing experience for the constituents for the Coorparoo Ward. As a key member of the Ward Office, you will have the opportunity to represent Brisbane City Council and the Coorparoo Ward Office at local events when needed and connect with residents who come into the Ward Office. This role will also support the delivery of local events in the Ward.
Your professional attitude and leadership experience will enable you to succeed in a busy office environment with complex customer queries, competing demands and the need to re-prioritise when the unexpected arises.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- ability to lead an office-based operation providing high quality administrative output including overall management of in-progress requests in the Customer Database system and resolving complex problems that arise
- demonstrated customer service experience with a strong focus on resolving complex customer queries including ongoing correspondence where necessary, ensuring honesty, fairness, sensitivity and dignity in all interactions
- demonstrated organisation skills including diary management, organising documents and preparing resources for meetings
- demonstrated experience in writing reports, correspondence and information decks whilst handling sensitive information in line with Council policy.
- well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with a wide range of customers and Council officers through a variety of channels
- ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment to an agreed performance standard and contribute to a culture of excellence.
Key responsibilities:
- providing and maintaining a high standard of customer service in all interactions via oversight of all incoming and outgoing correspondence
- resolving a variety of complex customer requests and enquiries, with the ability to take detailed information, submit requests and communicate updates and outcome with residents
- collaborating with the team to create high quality content including marketing for our many community events, ideas for our social media posts and drafting content for our local print publications
- assisting the team with the organisation of local community events (as directed by the Councillor), including booking venues and suppliers, coordinating logistics, and executing advertising and promotional activities.
Your willingness and enthusiasm to get the job done, will contribute to the overall effective operation of Coorparoo Ward Office. The ideal candidate will show resilience, empathy and work well within a small team.
This role will include after hours or weekend work by agreement.
