The role
The Program Director Civic and Building is a key executive and role in the Project Management branch providing strategic and technical expertise in the delivery of civic and building programs and projects. This role provides leadership and direction to engineering professionals and specialists working in high performing teams to drive the planning and delivery of civic and building infrastructure projects that enhance community amenity and liveability shaping Brisbane's future.
As Program Director, you will lead the delivery of critical infrastructure projects, including accountability for project and program management for service owners to deliver open space, waterways, urban infrastructure, community and sporting facilities, libraries, river infrastructure and environmental outcomes. Critical to success is the engagement and collaboration with the team, service owners across Council, and external providers. You will require excellent engagement and communications skills to build and maintain strong partnerships with program partners, asset owners, consultants, government agencies, and branches across Council.
We are looking for a leader who can foster and build a culture of safety and resilience, who can innovate, and inspire a continual improvement mindset in individuals and teams. A professional with a proven track record in delivery and able to deliver essential programs, projects and services across Council for the people of Brisbane.
To be considered, you must have the following:
- demonstrated extensive experience in civic and building infrastructure project management
- demonstrated management and leadership experience of high performing teams in infrastructure delivery.
- demonstrated experience managing employee relation issues and relationship management within an organisation’s industrial framework
- extensively developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
- demonstrated understanding of relevant Government policies.
Essential Qualifications:
- formal qualifications in Project Management, Architectural Engineering Design, or Construction Industry with extensive experience in project delivery.
- professional membership with AIPM or Engineers Australia or Board of Architects Qld (or eligible for membership within 6 months.
AIPM Certified Practicing Project Director (CPPD) or eligibility to achieve CPPD within 12 months is highly desirable.

Project Management branch provides leadership and accountability in Project and Contract Management delivery. Providing expertise and project management services in civil, transport, civic, building and natural environment infrastructure and assets. The branch is responsible for the overall delivery of projects and providing a diversity of services to assist asset owners.
