Our Business 

Brisbane City Council’s Transport for Brisbane (TfB) division operates one of Australia’s largest public transport enterprises to meet the needs of Brisbane’s public, as well as visitors to our city.  

Council operates a fleet of more than 1,250 buses, 40 Metro vehicles, 23 CityCats and 6 KittyCats, as well as contracts with eScooter providers, all helping to facilitate more than 240,000 journeys for residents and visitors to Brisbane every day of the week. 

Our Branch  

Strategy and Network Services branch enables the division by monitoring health, safety and environmental compliance, implementing business and process improvement measures, providing advice on security, risk and compliance issues, network planning and scheduling, and operational readiness for Brisbane Metro and Brisbane's New Bus Network. Strategy and Network Services will also play a pivotal role in the planning and implementation of future Metro expansions. 

The Role 

As a Scheduling and Roster Officer, you will play an integral role in developing and maintaining the efficiency, safety and effectiveness of Brisbane’s complex public bus network.

You will be joining a high performing and agile team who work responsively to schedule efficient and effective bus services, as part of a dynamic public transport network in Brisbane. To do this successfully, you will work well under pressure, be highly organised, work to strict deadlines, and engage with stakeholders across the business through mature and highly-developed communication skills.

This role is suited to individuals with a strategic mindset, and an understanding of legislation and fatigue management principles relevant to the operation of heavy vehicles.

To be successful you will have

  • Demonstrated experience with the integrated scheduling system, HASTUS, including a comprehensive understanding of vehicle, crew and roster modules, and a broad knowledge of other modules.
  • Ability to interrogate data and develop innovative approaches and creative solutions to improve business performance.
  • Experience in the public transport industry, including an understanding of transport scheduling and rostering.
  • Ability to contribute to team direction, give and receive feedback and achieve agreed performance standards to contribute to a culture of performance excellence.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage customer and stakeholder expectations and conflicting goals, giving consideration to a variety of perspectives.
  • Sound ability to work autonomously within a multifunctional team environment, whilst demonstrating effective time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to contribute to an open workplace where diversity is recognised as essential for team performance and where individuals are accountable for behaviour and work outcomes.

A good understanding of Transport for Brisbane’s bus network would be helpful in this role.
