Our Branch

The key purpose of Information Services branch (ISB) is to deliver digital and information strategies, and the enabling technologies and leadership, to maintain and enhance Council’s information, processes, and systems. ISB is the driving force behind Council’s digital evolution, setting the direction for how digital technologies connect and extend services while optimising Council operations.

The Role

The ICT Principal Cloud Specialist delivers outcomes through deep expertise in cloud platforms, infrastructure technologies, and technical architecture to design, operate, and optimise enterprise services. The Principal Cloud Specialist is a senior technical role driving automation, cost efficiency and consistency across ICT, working closely with the Service Manager – Automation.

The role maintains change and configuration management items, ensures platform stability, and delivers required infrastructure to stakeholders on time to meet business needs.

This role requires participation in a 24×7 support roster, including after-hours, weekend, and public holiday coverage as needed to maintain service availability.

To be successful you will have:

  • Demonstrated ability to apply the Council’s Leadership Blueprint to achieve high performance outcomes and foster a values-driven culture
  • Strong expertise in cloud platforms and automation technologies, including Azure, AWS, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and the development and optimisation of CI/CD pipelines
  • Proven DevOps engineering capability, including experience with Git-based CI/CD platforms, automation using PowerShell and Python, secure configuration practices, secrets management, and DevSecOps approaches
  • Extensive experience supporting and managing environments such as Kubernetes, VMware, Linux and Windows Server, along with web and application platforms including IIS, Apache and Tomcat
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads, perform effectively under pressure, and drive continuous process improvement
  • Advanced skills in negotiation, consultation, communication, and stakeholder engagement, with a demonstrated ability to lead, influence others, and build and maintain effective partnerships with colleagues and vendors.

  Desirable Criteria

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in a field such as Information and Communication Technology (ICT) or Business
  • Certification or accreditation in a recognised industry framework, such as the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
  • Experience and/or relevant qualifications in Terraform or Ansible (Infrastructure as Code) will be highly regarded.
