Our Business

Infrastructure Services (ISG) brings together Council's asset management, infrastructure planning, design, project management, construction, services, maintenance and transport operations activities.​

Our Branch

Asphalt and Aggregates oversees the management of Council's quarries and road surfacing operations, including the laying and repair of asphalt pavements, minor pothole repairs and road line marking. The branch consists of three core business units: Road Resurfacing, Asphalt Production and Quarries. 

The Role

This role leads day-to-day quarry operations at Mt Coot-tha, supervising teams to safely deliver high-quality aggregates that support city infrastructure. You’ll coordinate production, manage blasting activities, and ensure work is completed efficiently while meeting strict safety, quality, and operational standards.

As a hands-on leader, you’ll guide and support crews, contractors and site activities, while maintaining strong compliance with WHS requirements and Council expectations. The position also involves problem-solving on site, managing documentation, and working closely with management to deliver reliable, value-for-money outcomes for Brisbane’s community.

There will also be a requirement at times to operate heavy earthmoving machinery such as front-end loaders, dump trucks and excavators to meet operational needs.

To be successful you will have:

  • significant experience leading quarry industry teams in a high-risk environment
  • strong capability in blasting operations and coordinating contractors
  • solid understanding of WHS (Mining & Quarrying Safety & Health Act 1999 and Regulations 2017) requirements and safe work practices
  • ability to work autonomously and resolve on-site issues effectively
  • well-developed communication and administrative skills.
