These positions attract a competitive remuneration and benefits package dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate. This is in excess of $145000 pa plus super. with generous leave allowances, many benefits and leave loading.

The Information Services branch (ISB) at Brisbane City Council are seeking Program Managers to drive delivery excellence across our strategic ICT portfolio.

Our Branch: Information Services branch (ISB) supports and enables nearly all of Council’s day-to-day activities and services through efficient, flexible, and innovative ICT solutions. We lead the ICT strategy that supports the business objectives of Council as a whole, as well as information management and ICT service delivery in Council.

Our Program Managers are critical to the success of ISB’s delivery of projects to maximise dependability of Council’s information and communication technology (ICT) systems. You will collaborate with a diverse range of senior leaders across Australia’s largest Council, ensuring that projects and our teams deliver value, meet performance targets, and are executed with risk management and strong stakeholder engagement.

Play a key part in strengthening our internal capability under the Corporate Services strategy. This is a unique opportunity to work within a large technology environment, support excellent customer service and achievement of consistent service level standards. You will lead engagement with stakeholders at all levels, navigating organisational complexity and driving staff engagement, commitment, and clarity of purpose. 

What will you be doing? 

  • Leading end-to-end program delivery across multiple project streams, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, on-time delivery, and budget control
  • establishing and managing robust governance and reporting structures to support transparency and accountability
  • providing strategic direction and hands-on leadership across project managers, coordinators, and technical delivery teams
  • acting as a key liaison between delivery teams, business stakeholders, and executive sponsors to ensure alignment, buy-in, and communication clarity
  • driving continuous improvement in delivery practices, reporting processes, and team efficiency
  • identifying, tracking, and mitigating program-level risks, issues, and interdependencies
  • overseeing delivery plans, executive updates, performance metrics, and funding requests to demonstrate value realisation.

What will you need to bring to the role? 

  • Proven experience delivering large-scale, complex programs involving ICT infrastructure, business systems, or enterprise-wide transformation
  • strong governance mindset with experience managing multi-stream delivery environments and leading program-level reporting and controls
  • demonstrated leadership capability with the ability to inspire and guide diverse delivery teams toward shared outcomes
  • excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage across delivery teams, business units, and executive stakeholders
  • financial oversight skills, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, and benefits tracking
  • outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complexity and report with impact
  • continuous improvement mindset and a focus on delivery excellence and team effectiveness.
