Salary Range: AUD $1,367.50 per week

Are you interested in a career working with Animal Owners and deliver services that maintain and enhance the safety of Brisbane's Community?

Brisbane City Council is seeking resilient animal management professionals to join our Animal Services team. Are you passionate about animals, in particular domestic animals as well as possessing strong customer service skills, and an interest in compliance or investigations. If you answered yes to all the above, then this is the opportunity you have been waiting for!

Your role will primarily be field based, so you will need to be able to work independently, manage your time efficiently and solve problems with minimal supervision. At times, you will work in challenging situations so being mentally agile and having the capacity to make good decisions under pressure is critical. Also important is having good powers of observation and being able to capture the right information in stressful situations.

Additionally, you will be needed to embrace the team's readiness to deliver the highest levels of customer service and the drive to achieve the very best outcomes for the people of Brisbane by providing education, support, and, where necessary, appropriate enforcement.

Key focus areas include.  

  • provide exceptional customer service at all times
  • the capacity to work on a flexible roster requiring some work on weekends and outside normal office hours
  • passionate about animals and be willing to learn new skills relating to handling and care
  • investigate animal incidents and undertake necessary enforcement action in accordance with relevant legislation, Council policies and procedures
  • provide education to the community regarding laws that relate to the keeping of animals in Brisbane
  • make, record, and communicate good administrative decisions regarding animal incidents, that are founded on evidence, to ensure public safety
  • be an active and positive member of a highly motivated and engaged team to achieve great outcomes that contribute to the effective management of animals in Brisbane
  • provide high quality written correspondence through letters, reports, and statutory notices.
