The role:

The primary purpose of the Public Space Liaison Officer is to liaise with public space users including poeple experiencing homelessness, local residents, businesses, community support services and government to respond to issues that take place in public parks and other public spaces involving vulnerable community members in public space. 

To be successful you will have:

  • the ability to support, assist and consult with vulnerable community members.
  • the ability to identify community and social priorities and design and implement innovative community development responses to address these.
  • demonstrated exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including consultation, negotiation and conflict resolution with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • the ability to coordinate projects including experience and knowledge of project management processes, time management, setting priorities, review of project outcomes and making recommendations.
  • ability to work autonomously in the field and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • high level of professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and commitment to Council’s values, Code of Conduct, and Zero Harm principles.
  • willingness and capacity to work flexible hours, including reasonable after‑hours work when operationally required.
  • sound judgement and problem‑solving skills to identify issues early and develop practical, collaborative solutions.
