Our Branch
Natural Environment, Water and Sustainability is responsible for delivering programs and strategies that protect and enhance Brisbane’s natural assets. The unit works collaboratively across Council and with the community to deliver outcomes in biodiversity conservation, natural resource management and environmental sustainability.
The Role
In this role, you will contribute to the development and delivery of programs and strategies that support invasive species and native wildlife management across Brisbane. You will provide both strategic and operational support to ensure effective program outcomes that protect the city’s biodiversity.
You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, deliver projects and provide advice on policy, legislation and program delivery within a dynamic and high-performing team environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- assist in developing and implementing strategies, policies and procedures relating to invasive species and natural resource management.
- support the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of program outcomes and recommend improvements.
- manage projects to ensure delivery within agreed timeframes and budgets.
- support the delivery of reactive responses to invasive species and wildlife events.
- provide advice and support to customers in relation to human-wildlife interactions.
- develop and deliver training and awareness programs for Council staff and stakeholders.
- build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- provide advice on relevant legislation, policies and biosecurity matters.

To be successful you will have:
- sound natural resource management/ecology background with experience working with invasive flora and fauna and native fauna.
- experience in developing and implementing policies, programs or strategies within natural resource management, ecology or biosecurity.
- high level customer service skills and ability to manage challenging customer interactions. with a sound ability to manage stakeholders and work across Council, community and industry
- ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within tight timeframes.
- experience delivering training or awareness programs to a range of audiences.
- well-developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
