Our Branch
City Planning and Design (CPD) Branch is responsible for the strategic direction of the future planning and shaping of Brisbane through the development of the City Plan, local plans, city and suburban projects, supporting infrastructure, long-term economic growth and planning modules.
The Role
The Senior Governance Officer provides timely and focussed professional liaison with internal and external stakeholders and identify and analyse governance related issues arising in relation to the City Planning and Design Branch objectives and offer solutions and co-ordinate responses to those issues.
Sitting within the Business and Program Performance team, considered the ‘engine room’ for overall operation and administration tor the Branch, with team responsibilities including:
- budget development and financial monitoring
- human resources, training, and capability development
- business planning, business improvements and risk management
- governance, corporate reporting and compliance.
The Senior Governance Officer provides high-level drafting and editing support to all Council, Establishment and Coordination Committee (E&C) and other Standing Committee submission functions, providing specialist advice to manage the workflow and quality of submissions and associated activities.

To be successful you will have:
- demonstrated experience in providing high level drafting, editing and coordination support to all Council, Establishment and Coordination Committee (E&C) and other Standing Committee submission functions, provide a specialist advice and manage the workflow and quality of submission and associated activities
- established time management and interpersonal oral communication skills including understanding and application of customer focused behaviour and ability to liaise and negotiate with stakeholders and customers at all levels while dealing with sensitive information in a strictly confidential manner
- demonstrated high level written communication skills including ability to gather, compile and draft information to prepare complex agendas, reports, minutes, correspondence submissions, presentations and briefing papers
- demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Council’s organisation structure and responsibilities, E&C submission and petitions related processes and corporate decision related processes and relevant procedures and legislations
- demonstrated high level research, analysis and problem-solving skills synthesise and summarise complex policy and governance issues to identify emerging issues and develop recommendation for improvements/solutions.
