Public Transport Services is a group that brings together Commercial and Contract Services, Engineering and Asset Management, Strategy and Network Services and Transport Operations. Together, these branches help keep our city moving. Whether by bus, CityCat or ferry, e-bike or e-scooter, and Metro, our group manages bus contracts with Translink, ferry, e-mobility scheme and personalised public transport operators, that enable us to support the transport choices of Brisbane residents and visitors.
Our Branch
The Engineering and Asset Management Branch is responsible for bus maintenance (both first-line at depots and second-line at Toowong Workshops), establishing and managing fleet maintenance policies, procuring fleet assets, maintaining electrical charging infrastructure, investigating incidents, managing non-bus assets and facilities, overseeing major projects, and coordinating IT requirements for the division.
The Role
The RCM Asset Planner plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, safety and performance of Brisbane’s public transport fleet. Operating in a dynamic environment servicing 1,200+ vehicles and 350 trades staff across 8 depots, the role provides coordination, planning and analysis within the reliability and asset management framework.
You will coordinate the work of 16 Maintenance Quality Officers and Fleet Condition Officers, ensuring fleet condition standards and quality measures are effectively delivered across multiple garages. The role supports investigations, technical problem-solving, and data-driven recommendations to improve asset reliability and maintenance planning. Strong knowledge of SAP, asset data structures, logistics systems and condition-based maintenance is essential, along with strong communication skills to collaborate across trade teams, engineers, suppliers and senior executives.
To be successful you will have:
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn complex data into practical recommendations for fleet reliability
- confidence coordinating work across multiple sites and teams, keeping people and tasks aligned and on track
- clear, professional communication and negotiation skills, able to engage effectively with trade staff, engineers and senior leaders
- capability using SAP, asset systems and digital tools to support planning, reporting and decision-making
- ability to work independently in a busy environment, managing competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of work.
