The Organisation

Corporate Services in Brisbane City Council supports, equips, and helps guide Council to deliver the Brisbane Vision through centralised corporate services and a customer-focused approach.

The Business

Information Services branch (ISB) is responsible for Council's information and communications technology (ICT) strategy, information management and service delivery.

The Role

As a Principal Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of multiple strategic ICT infrastructure projects that support Brisbane City Council's technology foundations and long-term digital strategy.

Working within the Infrastructure Domain, you will be responsible for delivering complex technology infrastructure projects that modernise and enhance Council's core platforms, services and capabilities. You will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards while effectively managing risks, dependencies and stakeholder expectations.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead high-profile initiatives that support Council's digital transformation and provide critical technology services to one of Australia's largest local governments.

Are you ready to lead complex technology infrastructure projects that make a real difference to how Council delivers services to the Brisbane community? We are seeking an experienced Principal Project Manager to drive delivery excellence across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure initiatives.

You will have the opportunity to lead projects across cloud platforms, digital workplace technologies, infrastructure lifecycle management, network and connectivity services, enterprise platforms, ICT asset management and other foundational technology initiatives.

In this role you will:

  • lead multiple ICT infrastructure projects from initiation through to implementation and closure
  • define project scope, objectives, delivery strategies and success measures in partnership with stakeholders
  • establish and maintain project governance, reporting, communication and stakeholder engagement frameworks
  • manage project schedules, budgets, resources, risks, issues and dependencies to achieve successful outcomes
  • work collaboratively with business units, technical teams, service delivery teams and external vendors to coordinate delivery activities
  • provide timely reporting, insights and recommendations to project sponsors, governance groups and senior leadership
  • drive stakeholder alignment, facilitate decision-making and resolve complex delivery challenges
  • support organisational change and adoption activities associated with new technologies, platforms and services
  • contribute to continuous improvement of project delivery practices across Council's ICT portfolio.

To be successful you will have:

  • demonstrated experience delivering multiple complex ICT infrastructure projects concurrently
  • strong project management capability, including governance, planning, financial management, risk management and reporting
  • proven ability to manage competing priorities, interdependencies and resource constraints within complex delivery environments
  • experience working with technical teams across infrastructure, cloud platforms, identity and access management, digital workplace technologies, network services and enterprise platforms
  • exceptional stakeholder engagement, negotiation and communication skills, including engagement with senior leadership and executive stakeholders
  • highly developed analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage external vendors and service providers
  • a passion for delivering customer-focused outcomes and driving continuous improvement.
