Our Branch

​​​​​​​Asphalt and Aggregates oversees the management of Council's quarries and road surfacing operations, including the laying and repair of asphalt pavements, minor pothole repairs and road line marking. The branch consists of three core business units: Road Resurfacing, Asphalt Production and Quarries.

The Role

The Planner Estimator works closely with the Delivery Manager and road marking and operational teams to plan, estimate and coordinate pavement marking projects across Brisbane. This role supports accurate cost estimation, effective project planning and client liaison to ensure programs of work are delivered safely, professionally and efficiently—on time, on budget and to the agreed quality and scope—while providing value‑for‑money, high‑quality services to customers.

Working closely with operational teams, the Planner Estimator ensures compliance with workplace health and safety, environmental and Council policies, identifies and manages project risks, and maintains strong technical expertise in pavement marking and signage. This position supports accurate estimating, project planning, billing and documentation, while contributing to efficient project delivery, effective stakeholder engagement and continuous performance improvement in line with Council values.

To be successful you will have:

  • working knowledge of relevant WH&S, environmental, quality and EEO policies and procedures
  • ability to contribute to team performance, meet agreed standards and engage in constructive feedback
  • experience identifying work activities, resources and productivity rates for accurate estimating
  • strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • experience in office administration, including records, work orders, cost tracking and invoicing
  • basic computer skills using office‑based applications
  • possession of a Certificate 3 in Line Marking
  • a C Class Drivers’ Licence.
