Our Branch
Support Services provides Council's key support services under a centralised model. The efficient back-of-house support ensures more resources can be focused on Council’s front-line service delivery.
Employee Services is part of Support Services and is made up of two core functions – Recruitment and Payroll. We work together to ensure accurate, timely pay and employee lifecycle support across Council.
The Role
The Payroll Team Leader role at Brisbane City Council oversees payroll functions to deliver high-quality services promptly. Apart from managing day-to-day operations, this position involves providing expert advice to tackle complex pay processing issues, ensuring service improvement for customers and stakeholders. With a strong focus on leadership and performance excellence, the role entails supervising a team of payroll officers to deliver accurate services in line with operational standards.
The Payroll Team Leader also leads and mentors the team, allocates work efficiently, and maintains compliance with legal requirements while collaborating with various stakeholders. Joining this role offers the chance to drive change and contribute to continuous improvements in a dynamic work environment.
To be successful you will have:
- strong leadership skills to effectively supervise and mentor a team of payroll officers
- expertise in providing technical advice to resolve complex pay processing issues and improve service quality
- excellent understanding of legal and regulatory requirements related to payroll processes
- exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external parties
- proven ability to drive change, implement best practices, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in a dynamic work environment.
