Our Branch

Support Services provides Council's key support services under a centralised model. Our efficient back-of-house support ensures more resources can be focused on Council’s front-line service delivery.

The Role

In this senior leadership role, you will set the strategic direction for business process management, ensuring processes are aligned to Council’s process architecture, standards, and governance requirements. You will work closely with senior leaders and stakeholders across Council to identify improvement opportunities, manage cross‑process impacts, and deliver measurable outcomes that improve service quality, efficiency, and organisational performance.

 You will lead a specialist team and oversee a portfolio of complex improvement initiatives, balancing strategic planning with practical delivery. This includes prioritising work, managing dependencies, and providing authoritative advice on process change arising from continuous improvement initiatives, legislative or industrial impacts, and major system or organisational change.

A key focus implemented and building strong relationships and partnerships across Support Services and broader Council to ensure process improvements are well understood, effectively implemented, and deliver sustainable value for the organisation and the communities Council serves.

To be successful you will have:

  • demonstrated alignment with Council’s Leadership Blueprint, supporting strong performance and a values‑based culture
  • ability to contribute to team goals and meet agreed performance expectations
  • strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to consult, build partnerships, negotiate, and influence a wide range of stakeholders
  • experience overseeing business improvement initiatives, including setting priorities, managing governance, and ensuring alignment to organisational strategy and outcomes
  • proven ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels to understand and communicate business requirements
  • experience providing high‑quality professional advice and guidance on strategic, business, and operational matters
  • strong analytical skills, with the ability to research issues and develop clear, practical options and recommendations
  • experience working in complex project environments with changing or unclear requirements, demonstrating adaptability and agility
  • strong written communication skills, including preparing reports, briefings, and options papers on a range of issues.
