The Role
As a Pipe Survey Technical Officer, you will support the management and delivery of both planned and unplanned pipe survey programs for stormwater drainage networks.
Working closely with the Pipe Survey Coordinator and the field survey teams, you will help coordinate day-to-day survey activities, from scoping and assessing pipe survey requests to planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting on work.
Key Accountabilities:
- collaborate with your team leader to meet performance standards and foster a culture of excellence
- provide technical support and role-model customer-focused behaviour while working with various stakeholders, including community groups and government agencies
- interpret drainage plans, conduct desktop and field investigations, and prepare instruction sketches to ensure survey work is done to required specifications
- ensure compliance with WH&S legislation and continuously improve WH&S practices across all survey activities
- prepare clear and accurate reports and technical advice to resolve asset management issues related to stormwater drainage networks
- monitor and report on the completion of work, ensuring compliance with job briefs and budgets
- survey stormwater drainage networks in line with Council policies and Queensland Government legislation, obtaining necessary permits as required
- maintain technical expertise in stormwater pipe inspection methods, providing advice on appropriate techniques and resolving quality or timeliness disputes
- work in accordance with relevant policies and legislation to maintain operational standards.
To be successful you will have:
- ability to lead and set clear expectations, support individuals, and provide regular feedback to monitor and enhance team performance.
- strong experience in civil engineering management, with a solid understanding of construction principles and practices for stormwater drainage network surveying, adhering to relevant standards and policies.
- demonstrated capability in creating job scoping documents for minor engineering works, managing and delivering stormwater drainage asset management programs within budget constraints and future needs.
- ability to prioritize and manage workloads, working independently and collaboratively with stakeholders to meet deadlines and ensure high-quality outcomes and excellent customer service.
- exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including conflict management, to facilitate effective communication with all stakeholders.
- knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn corporate software applications used for asset management and reporting.
- hold or be willing to acquire Confined Space Entry and Operating Breathing Apparatus tickets (would be highly regarded)
