Salary Range: AUD: $91,334.17 to $106,577.36 per annum plus superannuation

(Remuneration stated is for the full-time positions)

Work type: Temporary full-time

Duration: Fixed term contract until the next quadrennial election of March 2028 with the possibility of an extension.

Location: Wynnum Manly Ward (please note this an onsite role only)

The Governance Council and Committee Services branch is responsible for providing administrative and policy support to the Ward Offices to help achieve the best outcomes for the community.

The Ward

The Wynnum Manly Ward Office is proud to be the voice for the residents of Green Island, Lota, Lytton, Manly, Manly West, Mud Island, Port of Brisbane, St Helena Island, Wynnum and Wynnum West. The Wynnum Manly area provides local residents with a bay-side lifestyle that is connected and community orientated, with many residents choosing to live, work and play in their local area.

The Role

As part of a small team, the role of the Senior Ward Officer is to lead the Ward Officer in the delivery of highly effective administration and customer service and managing the Ward Office workload to achieve key performance markers as set by the Councillor. You can make this role a success by having a proactive, innovative and agile attitude, while demonstrating a focus on creating solutions for the community.

The Senior Ward Officer is also responsible for diary management and supporting the Councillor at local events. You will demonstrate excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to resolve complex customer queries, manage competing demands and re-prioritise when the unexpected arises.

Our ideal candidate is someone with a professional attitude, leadership experience, strong computer skills and hands on experience with content writing and photo and video editing for digital channels.

Although primarily based at the Wynnum Manly Ward Office, this role will require travel out of the office to events, which may fall outside of regular office hours (including weekends). This is a full-time temporary role, however applicants seeking part-time, or job share arrangements are encouraged to apply, as these options may be available to the successful candidate/s.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • experience in leading an office-based operation providing high quality administrative and secretarial support
  • knowledge of the local Wynnum Manly area
  • excellent customer service experience with a strong focus on resolving complex customer queries
  • experience in researching and interpreting legislation, policy and guidelines
  • well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.
