Brisbane City Council is the largest local government in Australia with 26 wards and 27 Councillor positions.
We are currently seeking several highly motivated, customer focussed administrative professionals to join our casual pool and support various ward offices across Brisbane.
About the role:
As a casual Ward Officer, you’ll play a vital role in providing high-quality administrative and secretarial support to ward offices. You'll also engage with residents, community members and stakeholders, representing Brisbane City Council in a professional and helpful manner.
This is a casual position with work offered based on business needs, during standard business hours (Monday to Friday). Training will be provided.
If successful for one of these positions, you will be part of a casual pool of employees required to work at various ward offices located across Brisbane in either the North, South, East or West regions. These casual positions are not based at one specific ward office so you must be prepared to travel to different locations, including the following wards:
- Bracken Ridge Ward
- Central Ward
- Chandler Ward
- Coorparoo Ward
- Doboy Ward
- Enoggera Ward
- Hamilton Ward
- Holland Park Ward
- Jamboree Ward
- MacGregor Ward
- Marchant Ward
- McDowall Ward
- Northgate Ward
- Paddington Ward
- Pullenvale Ward
- Runcorn Ward
- The Gap Ward
- Walter Taylor Ward
- Wynnum Manly Ward
Note, you will be able to nominate your preferred work locations.
The ideal candidate will be adaptable, flexible and have excellent customer service skills with a willingness to assist with a variety of administrative tasks.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your day-to-day duties may include:
- Providing administrative support and assistance to the Councillor and office team
- Front counter reception and customer service
- Answering incoming calls and managing emails
- Scheduling and diary management
- Drafting and coordinating correspondence and documents
- Maintaining effective records and office systems
To be considered for the position you will have:
- experience in providing a range of administrative and general business support services
- sound communication skills, both written and oral, and sound interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with internal and external customers
- ability to work with limited supervision independently and in a team environment
- demonstrated organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- demonstrated knowledge and skills, or ability to adapt to corporate systems, processes and PC packages.
You can make this role a success by having a positive 'can do' attitude. At its heart, this role is strongly focused on customer service and problem solving for residents. Your willingness and enthusiasm to get the job done, will contribute to the overall effective operation of the ward office.
A “C” class drivers licence is desirable but not mandatory.
This role will require a Criminal History Check.
