Support Services provides Council's key support functions under a centralised model, ensuring efficient back-of-house operations so that more resources can be focused on front-line service delivery. We provide a wide range of support to all areas of Council, playing a crucial role in driving operational success across the organisation.

Support Services is seeking a Senior Rates Management Officer to deliver efficient and effective rating services. This key role involves managing complex customer, property, and account transactions, while providing expert advice and coaching on rates-related matters. You will champion a customer-first approach, solve intricate problems using financial and corporate systems, and drive continuous improvement across rates management processes. Working closely with your team leader, you will support staff development, ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies, and contribute to a high-performing, collaborative team culture.

If you have strong communication skills, a deep understanding of financial systems, and a passion for delivering efficient and effective rates management, we would love to hear from you.

To be considered, you will have:

  • experience in mentoring or coaching team members, including managing workloads and supporting performance goals—ideally from a senior or leadership role within a team
  • expertise in financial and business systems, with the ability to interpret legislation and solve complex problems
  • demonstrated ability to manage complex transactions and deliver operational outcomes
  • solid understanding of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements
  • proven ability to identify and support improvements to systems and processes
  • strong customer focus with the ability to resolve issues promptly or escalate appropriately, and
  • excellent communication, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills.

A criminal history may also be undertaken on preferred applicants. A criminal history does not necessarily preclude an applicant from appointment.
