Support Services provides Council's key support functions under a centralised model, ensuring efficient back-of-house operations so that more resources can be focused on front-line service delivery. We provide a wide range of support to all areas of Council, playing a crucial role in driving operational success across the organisation.
As the Senior Program and Project Officer, you’ll play an essential role in delivering complex projects within Brisbane City Council’s Corporate Services branch. Your focus will be ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and aligned with governance requirements, particularly across the Rates program of work. Responsibilities include leading customer-focused process design, managing documentation, contracts and procurement, implementing communication plans, and providing strategic advice to stakeholders.
This role drives transformation and performance in the Rates program, supporting digitalisation, business performance reporting, and process improvement. You’ll also contribute to future major ERP transitions, helping shape systems and processes that enhance efficiency and revenue operations. Ideal for a self-managed professional who can influence outcomes and accelerate change.
If you have strong project management expertise, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a passion for continuous improvement within a values-driven, performance-focused culture, we’d love to hear from you.
To be considered, you will have:
- proven experience delivering complex projects on time, within budget, and to agreed standards
- understanding of project management principles, procurement processes, and governance frameworks
- proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships, influence stakeholders, and work collaboratively across teams
- advanced interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and handle sensitive or complex issues with discretion
- experience in process improvement and driving a values-based, performance-focused culture
- high-level analytical and problem-solving skills to support data-driven decision-making.
Familiarity with Council’s PM2 methodology and project management software is desirable, not essential.
A criminal history may also be undertaken on preferred applicants. A criminal history does not necessarily preclude an applicant from appointment.
