The Customer Services Group is at the forefront of delivering services that directly impact the daily lives of Brisbane's residents, businesses and visitors. The group comprises a diverse portfolio including Cemeteries, Compliance and Regulatory Services (CARS), Customer Experience, Library and Customer Delivery, and Service Portfolio and Business Innovation.  

Library and Customer Delivery (L&CD) connects Brisbane residents, visitors and businesses with Council services, information, resources, and support through libraries, customer service channels and specialised services. 

The Role  

The Coordinator Library Assets is responsible for the strategic planning, development, refurbishment, and maintenance of library facilities and assets across our library network. In this key leadership role, you will provide specialist advice and coordinate Library Services input into infrastructure projects, ensuring library spaces are designed and maintained to support contemporary service delivery, accessibility, operational requirements, and evolving community needs. You will play an important role in shaping welcoming, functional, and future-focused library environments that enhance the customer experience and reflect industry best practice. 

Working within a large and decentralised library service, you will collaborate with library teams, project managers, consultants, contractors, and other key stakeholders to deliver successful asset and infrastructure outcomes. Through your understanding of public library operations and emerging trends, you will contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of innovative library spaces and services that support organisational priorities, operational excellence, and community outcomes. This role is well suited to a strategic and collaborative leader who is passionate about strengthening public libraries and creating spaces that connect, inspire, and serve diverse communities. 

To be successful you will have: 

• Significant experience in public libraries, including leadership experience within a large and complex library service 
• Strong understanding of contemporary library operations, customer service delivery, collection management, and library facility requirements 
• Experience leading or contributing to library refurbishment, redevelopment, maintenance, or new library projects 
• Demonstrated ability to provide library expertise and advice throughout the planning, design, and delivery of infrastructure projects 
• Proven leadership skills with a commitment to fostering a high-performing, values-based culture 
• Experience reviewing project plans, designs, and technical documentation to ensure they meet library service requirements 
• Knowledge of emerging trends and best practice in public library service delivery, design, and operations 
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across diverse teams and communities 
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, business cases, strategies, and presentations 
• Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and change management skills 
• A degree in Library and Information Management or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
