Our Branch

The Governance, Council and Committee Services branch provides coordinated administrative and governance support to Council, its committees and executive leadership. It ensures Council decisions and processes comply with legislation and organisational policies, while maintaining effective and transparent governance practices.

The Role  

As a Senior Policy Officer, you will play a central role in strengthening Council’s governance and decision-making environment. Working across a diverse and high-profile portfolio, you will provide expert advice and support the delivery of transparent, compliant and effective governance practices.

This role offers the opportunity to engage with senior stakeholders, including executive leadership and elected representatives, while contributing to key areas such as information privacy, complaints management, and intergovernmental relations. You will also help identify emerging issues, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and influence outcomes that support the efficient operation of Council and the community it serves.

To be successful you will have:

  • experience in policy, governance, compliance, or public administration
  • strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders
  • a highly developed research, analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to distil complex information
  • proven ability to manage projects and competing priorities
  • experience working with sensitive or confidential information
  • a commitment to continuous improvement and high-quality service delivery.
