Salary Range: Band 7: AUD: $123,340.00 to $134,848.00 per annum plus superannuation plus additional remuneration and benefits dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.

The Role  

The key functions required of the Senior Landfill Engineer role include:

  • Delivering of strategic engineering outputs associated with Council’s Closed Landfill Management Program.
  • Overseeing and developing the engineering program of the Closed Landfill Management Program.
  • Providing engineering support to Council projects involving localised or precinct scale landfill or contaminated land remediation projects ensuring protection of human and environmental health

Day-to-day the successful applicant will be actively responsible for activities such as preparing complex project proposals, program management and coordination, resourcing of project delivery, attending closed landfill management program meetings and presenting progress updates, educating, and influencing stakeholders, provide technical specialist engineering advice and remediation design package deliverables and certifying designs. As a senior member of the Contaminated Land Services team, you will also champion sharing knowledge, improving processes and identifying new technologies, skill building and succession planning and creating a multi-year plan for the growth of the team.

  • Closed landfill and contaminated land remediation designs. 
  • Technical project support including quality assurance for externally delivered projects. 
  • Landfill management infrastructure asset condition assessment. 
  • Preparation of site management plans to manage residual impacts. 
  • Spoil management onsite reuse and offsite disposal advice. 
  • Management of Council's contaminated land database.

This role will require a Bachelor of Engineering and Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ) in the area of engineering.
