Salary Range: (Band 7) AUD $127,965.00 - $139,905.00 plus superannuation and benefits.

Join Public Transport Services (PTS) and help shape safe, reliable, and compliant services for our community. As Principal Health and Safety Advisor, you will lead the development and implementation of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies, frameworks and Zero Harm systems across Public Transport Services. You will provide expert guidance and support to managers and employees, contribute to Council’s Zero Harm strategy, and drive continuous improvement through data analysis, risk management and strategic initiatives. Working collaboratively within a team, you will help shape a mature safety culture, ensure compliance with legislation, and deliver safer outcomes for our people and the community.

You will be part of the Strategy and Network Services Branch, the team that drives health, safety and environment compliance, learning and development, process improvements, and security, risk and compliance initiatives. The branch also manages records and information, plans and schedules the bus network, and delivers bus services for major events and charters.

To be considered, you will have:

  • strong knowledge of WHS legislation, strategy, and implementation of Zero Harm initiatives
  • analytical and problem-solving skills to identify WHS issues and deliver effective solutions
  • experience developing, maintaining, and monitoring WHS management systems and performance metrics
  • proven experience in mentoring, coaching, and developing team members
  • ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels to support WHS responsibilities
  • project management experience delivering WHS/Zero Harm initiatives on time and within budget
  • excellent oral and written communication skills across diverse stakeholders, and
  • strategic thinking and judgement in managing complex technical and interpersonal issues with senior leaders and decision-makers.

Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety (or a related discipline) and a current open “C” Class driver’s licence are highly desirable.
