About the Opportunity
This is an opportunity to step into a senior leadership role where your expertise in Environmental Health will directly influence city‑wide outcomes.
As Environmental Health Team Leader, you will lead an established and capable cohort of Environmental Health professionals, supporting up to 20 direct and indirect staff. You’ll balance strategic oversight with operational leadership, guiding how regulatory and compliance services are delivered across Brisbane.
You’ll have the scope to shape how the team works - driving improvement, innovation and professional development - while being trusted to make sound, evidence‑based decisions in complex regulatory environments.
In this role, you will:
- lead and support a high‑performing Environmental Health team to deliver consistent, high‑quality regulatory out comes
- set clear direction, priorities and expectations while empowering staff to perform at their best
- analyse emerging environmental health trends and risks and influence effective responses
- improve systems, processes and practices to support efficiency, consistency and positive customer outcomes
- build strong, collaborative relationships with communities, businesses and government stakeholders
- champion education, prevention and proactive regulation to support public health and safety
- create an environment where innovation, problem solving and continuous learning are encouraged.

You’ll succeed in this role if you have:
- proven leadership experience aligned with Council’s Leadership Blueprint, with the ability to deliver performance excellence and a values‑driven culture
- strong knowledge of environmental health regulatory frameworks, particularly within Queensland local government (or the ability to rapidly develop this knowledge)
- demonstrated experience in research, analysis and complex problem‑solving in a regulatory environment
- a track record of leading operational Environmental Health services and driving performance through clear expectations and accountability.
Qualifications & Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in Environmental Health from an accredited course. (https://www.eh.org.au/workforce/accredited-courses)
- A current valid C‑Class driver licence.
