Construction delivers an extensive range of specialist services in the areas of infrastructure, storm water drainage, bridge maintenance, transport network technologies, trades, land remediation, asset intelligence, lighting and facility services.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced structural engineer to play a key role in the stewardship of Brisbane’s critical infrastructure assets. You will provide expert engineering advice and lead the development of strategic asset management solutions for bridges, retaining walls, boardwalks, marine structures and other essential assets that support the city’s growth and liveability.
As Engineer - Structures, you’ll work closely with asset owners, delivery partners and senior stakeholders to plan, prioritise and optimise maintenance, rehabilitation and renewal programs. Combining technical expertise with strategic thinking, you’ll help ensure Brisbane’s structural assets remain safe, sustainable and fit for the future while influencing major investment and asset management decisions across Council.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- lead strategic asset management planning for Brisbane’s structural asset portfolio, including bridges, culverts, retaining walls and marine structures
- coordinate maintenance, rehabilitation and renewal programs to achieve long-term asset performance and service outcomes
- provide expert engineering advice and technical leadership on structural asset management matters
- build strong relationships with stakeholders and delivery partners to support program delivery and asset outcomes
- develop and maintain technical standards, performance frameworks and continuous improvement initiatives across the branch.
To be successful you will have:
- extensive experience managing civil or structural infrastructure programs, projects and asset portfolios
- strong stakeholder engagement, consultation and influencing skills, including the ability to work with senior leaders and diverse customer groups
- demonstrated knowledge of asset management principles and their application to public infrastructure assets
- excellent planning, budgeting and performance management skills, with the ability to deliver outcomes within time and budget constraints
- tertiary engineering qualifications together with Chartered and RPEQ accreditation, or the ability to meet these requirements
