Our Branch 

The Sport and Recreation Branch plays a key role in supporting active, healthy and connected communities across Brisbane. The Branch works across planning, partnerships and service delivery to enable inclusive access to sport and recreation opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. 

Through collaboration with community organisations, clubs and internal stakeholders, the team helps create welcoming places and programs that encourage participation, wellbeing and social connection, while supporting the sustainable use of Council’s sport and recreation assets. 

The Role  

As the Project Officer, you will play a key role in administering funding agreements that support community infrastructure, sport and recreation projects across Brisbane. 

Working with internal and external stakeholders, you will coordinate funding agreement activities across a diverse portfolio of projects, including milestone management, assessment of documentation, payment processing and acquittal activities. You will support strong governance outcomes while ensuring funding obligations are met and project outcomes are delivered. 

Your ability to build effective stakeholder relationships, manage competing priorities and exercise sound judgement will contribute to the successful delivery of funded projects and the responsible management of public funds. 

Key responsibilities of the role include: 

  • liaise with internal and external stakeholders to establish funding agreements that support community infrastructure and sport and recreation projects 
  • develop funding agreement schedules, including milestone structures, payment arrangements and reporting requirements 
  • prepare funding agreement documentation, reports, correspondence, briefing materials and recommendations to support approvals and business outcomes 
  • monitor funding agreement obligations, deliverables and performance throughout the agreement lifecycle 
  • provide advice and support to stakeholders regarding funding agreement requirements, obligations and associated Council processes 
  • maintain accurate records and documentation to support governance, compliance and accountability requirements 
  • identify opportunities to improve funding administration practices, processes and governance outcome experience in government or the private sector in a professional field relevant to small business support 
  • ability to speak publicly with a passion for inspiring and motivating small business audiences.
