The role:
Reporting directly to, and working very closely with, the Group Executive, City Planning and Economic Development Services, the Executive Officer is a key member of the Group Leadership Team and works in close partnership with the Group Executive to enable effective leadership, governance and delivery across the City Planning and Economic Development Services Group.
The role operates at the centre of executive, organisational and civic interfaces and works closely with Group Leadership Team colleagues, senior executives across the organisation, the CEO and her office, elected officials and their support teams.
The role requires strong professional judgement, strong situational awareness and the ability to build trust quickly across a wide and diverse stakeholder environment.
This role plays a critical part in identifying emerging issues, escalating matters appropriately, and supporting the Group Executive and GLT to navigate complex, sensitive and high impact situations while maintaining organisational confidence and trust.
In this role you will have:
- Proven extensive experience in providing high-quality professional advice, interpretation, and information across a broad range of strategic, policy, business, and operational matters within complex environments
- Highly developed analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to synthesise complex information, identify contentious and emerging issues, and develop well-considered recommendations and practical solutions
- Significant experience managing complex organisational projects, including leading and contributing to multidisciplinary teams to successfully deliver outcomes
- Highly developed verbal, written, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, enabling me to effectively communicate and build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, while consistently delivering responsive and high-quality customer service
- Demonstrated experience handling highly sensitive information with integrity, discretion, and strict confidentiality
- Experienced in leading team performance by setting clear direction and expectations, providing ongoing support and constructive feedback, and actively monitoring individual and team outcomes to drive continuous improvement
- Strong strategic leadership capability, with a proven track record of delivering measurable performance outcomes aligned with organisational objectives.
Desirable: Graduate qualifications in business, management or public administration, or equivalent experience.
