The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Workplace Health and Safety Consultant to lead and guide Brisbane City Council in shaping a safe and healthy work environment. In this role, you will provide strategic direction, expert advice, and leadership on workplace health and safety (WHS) issues, trends, and best practices, aligned with Council’s Zero Harm strategy. You’ll be responsible for developing and overseeing the Organisational Zero Harm Management System and driving a range of WHS initiatives to support key organisational outcomes.
To be considered for the position, you will have:
- relevant tertiary qualifications, such as a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, coupled with well-developed knowledge of WHS legislation
- prior experience in the development and maintenance of WHS management systems
- strong attention to detail and demonstrated experience contributing to a team, driving initiatives, respecting ideas and adapting to individual working styles
- experience in the delivery/management of processes and organisational strategies to drive cultural and behavioural change
- a proactive and customer solutions-focused attitude
- experience analysing complex situations, data and trends and providing strategic WHS advice and assistance to senior management
- strong influencing and negotiating skills with experience coaching and training stakeholders on WHS best practice.
