Salary Range: (Band 4) AUD $82,995.00 to $89,095.00 plus 14% superannuation + leave entitlements

(Band 5) AUD $91,900 to $104,172 plus 14% superannuation + leave entitlements

(Remuneration stated is for the full-time positions)

Positions Available: Multiple permanent positions available and potential for long term temporary positions.

Our Branch

Our Compliance and Regulatory Services (CARS) ensure Council is building a better Brisbane. We contribute to the health, safety and amenity of Brisbane through a range of licensing and regulatory services related to environmental health, land use and built environment, animal management, asset use and the natural environment. We provide best practice regulatory services that contribute positively to the quality and lifestyle of the city.

The Role

These roles are embedded within diverse work units that undertake important proactive and reactive compliance and assessment activities. This includes responding to community reports of unsafe structures, unlawful building work, investigating planning scheme offences, assessing advertising sign approvals and assessing footway permits (for example driveways).

The team ensure Council Is building a better Brisbane and this is where the right calibre of candidates for this role will seal an already dedicated and professional team. Officers at this level are expected to operate independently with managing workload demands, interpret and apply legislation, and be able to and provide guidance, assistance and coaching to less experienced officers. 

To be successful for this role, you will have: 

  • knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and development approvals in the Built Environment
  • strong negotiation and problem-solving skills with excellent communication abilities
  • high-quality written communication for reports, submissions, and correspondence
  • proficiency in research, analysis, and effective problem-solving, applying relevant regulations
  • expertise in addressing complex and sensitive issues with exceptional communication and conflict resolution
  • advanced research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, interpreting and applying regulations
  • excellent time management and organisational abilities, consistently meeting deadlines and achieving success.
