About Us
Financial Management and Operations is part of the Support Services Branch. The team provides Council with accurate and timely financial information to support decision making, through budgeting, planning, and reporting, forecasting, and modelling to enable effective business performance management.
The range of services provided by Financial Management and Operations includes budgeting, forecasting, management accounting, reporting, asset accounting, receipting, debt management, revenue management of fees and charges, collections, systems and technology functions, and the onboarding of new credit customers for Council's commercial businesses.
About the Role
We are currently seeking two Senior Accountants to join our supportive and collaborative team. In this hands-on role, you will provide valued advice and essential financial services that support and enhance our customers’ operations. Senior Accountants work across multiple business units, delivering accurate, timely and insightful financial information, reporting and budgeting to support informed decision-making and effective service delivery for the people of Brisbane.

About You
To be successful you will have:
- proven ability to deliver financial, asset, and/or managerial accounting services effectively
- extensive experience in forecasting, financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting
- strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels
- excellent organisational skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage time and prioritise tasks efficiently
- collaborative team player with a proactive mindset, underpinned by a strong continuous improvement ethos and demonstrated experience in process automation to drive efficiency and innovation
- exceptional customer service and client relationship management skills, aligned with organisational values and supporting a One council approach.
Ideally, you will hold a qualification in accounting or a related business discipline, along with membership in a recognised professional accounting body. Experience with SAP is highly regarded.
