The Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Branch creates value by protecting people, supporting operational performance and enabling organisational resilience through effective risk management, safety leadership, fitness for work programs and environmental stewardship.

The Role

This role conducts independent and joint investigations into health, safety and environmental incidents across Public Transport Services (PTS), identifying root causes, assessing control effectiveness, and supporting corrective and preventative actions. Through evidence-based reporting and robust investigation practices, you will strengthen organisational learning, improve compliance, reduce risk, and drive continuous improvement across the business.

We are seeking an exceptional Work Health and Safety Investigator with extensive experience within the transport industry and a proven ability to lead complex investigations and work with a broad range of stakeholders. You will have a thorough understanding of contemporary investigation methodologies to identify contributing issues, influences and factors and be highly skilled in building relationships to engage with frontline employees, leaders, contractors and management teams.

In this role you will:

  • conduct incident investigations and provide reports to management
  • provide professional advice on HSE issues arising from incident investigations
  • advise management and staff of existing and future safety policies, legislation, research and developments
  • work closely with supervisors and provide training, advice and assistance on investigation requirements
  • oversee and maintain elements of the Group’s Safety and Environment Management System
  • continually improve investigations, awareness, and training in PTS HSE responsibilities.

To be successful you will have:

  • demonstrated ability working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders 
  • demonstrated experience conducting workplace incident investigations
  • extensive knowledge and experience in the continual development and implementation of WH&S policies, procedures, and management programs
  • well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • demonstrated ability applying discretion on sensitive investigations.
