Policy Advisor Community and Arts Committee– Office of the Lord Mayor of Brisbane
This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Lord Mayor of Brisbane as a Policy Advisor.
The Lord Mayor sets the strategic direction for Brisbane through an annual $4 billion budget, which is delivered by Councillors who are members of the Establishment and Coordination Committee, also known as Civic Cabinet.
An opportunity currently exists with the Civic Cabinet Chair for Community and Arts.
This portfolio ensures Brisbane remains a vibrant, caring and active community. It is responsible for our significant network of pools, community halls and meetings spaces and supporting Brisbane’s cultural and artistic activities through a range of partnerships and sponsorships. The portfolio also plays an important role managing our relationship with community-based groups and sports organisations.
Our Policy Advisors are responsible for providing research and strategic advice to the Lord Mayor and Civic Cabinet. They work closely with the Lord Mayor’s communications team, prepare briefings on issues, write high-quality talking points and speeches and are a key liaison between the Lord Mayor’s Office and Council Officers.
An attractive salary and remuneration package will be offered, commensurate with your skills and qualifications. Experience working for other elected representatives at a local, state or federal level, along with tertiary qualifications, is highly desired, although not mandatory.
This role will require a Criminal History Check.
