There are two Principal Financial Analyst – Treasury roles available in the Treasury team, Strategic Finance Branch.
The Role
As the Principal Financial Analyst -Treasury, you will provide specialist, value adding financial expertise across Council, supporting informed decision making on complex and high value matters. The role delivers authoritative advice based on rigorous financial evaluation, technical accounting, analysis and modelling. You will apply this expertise across a broad range of Council activities, including major projects, business cases and proposals, financing alternatives, investment decisions and broader commercial activities. Operating at a strategic level, you will provide high level treasury accounting, compliance, reporting and analytical support to ensure Council’s treasury operations are well governed, sustainable and aligned with legislative and policy requirements ‑ adding financial expertise across Council, supporting informed decision‑making on complex and high‑value matters. The role delivers authoritative advice based on rigorous financial evaluation, technical accounting, analysis and modelling ‑ level treasury accounting, compliance, reporting and analytical support to ensure Council’s treasury operations are well‑governed, sustainable and aligned with legislative and policy requirements.
To be successful you will have:
- relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related discipline
- membership of a professional accounting or other professional body
- ability to contribute to team direction, give and receive feedback and achieve agreed performance standards in order to contribute to a culture of performance excellence
- substantial experience in evaluating proposals using advanced financial analysis techniques and business models, incorporating advanced use of business software, Microsoft Excel and corporate accounting systems
- demonstrated experience in undertaking research, financial analysis and modelling to provide recommendations or solutions to current or emerging issues
- substantial experience in providing a financial and business advisory service to senior managers and other customers including financial analysis, planning and management reporting
- demonstrate sound level of knowledge of financing options including leasing and related cash flow implications and interpret and account for financial instruments and other financial transactions
- demonstrated experience in financial analysis and the research of complex accounting issues, providing interpretation and developing solutions for customers
- highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to build and maintain relationships with staff at all levels of an organisation
- demonstrated high-level organisation skills to work with minimal supervision and to meet tight deadlines, operating in an environment of competing priorities.
