Our commitment to safety, collaboration, and innovation underpins everything we do.

Our Branch

Infrastructure Services is responsible for delivering major infrastructure projects across Brisbane. We work closely with external contractors and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. Our team culture is collaborative, professional, and focused on continuous improvement and technical excellence.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • reviewing contractor safety documentation to ensure risks are understood and adequately controlled
  • conducting site audits and producing high-quality reports
  • attending pre-start and onsite meetings and advising on safety controls and documentation
  • supporting project teams with risk management and safety advice
  • engaging with contractors to monitor safety performance and practices
  • contributing to the continuous improvement of Council’s safety management systems
  • mentoring and coaching contractors and project teams on safety best practices.

To be successful you will have:

  • experience in government or the private sector in a professional field relevant to construction safety
  • strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage confidently with Tier 1 and 2 contractors
  • ability to provide professional advice in high-risk work environments
  • knowledge of WHS legislation and its application in construction and infrastructure projects
  • ability to write clear, professional reports and safety documentation
  • demonstrated experience in managing difficult conversations and influencing safe outcomes
  • ability to investigate incidents and monitor and influence investigation outcomes
  • certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
  • possession of a current “C” Class driver’s licence
  • A General Construction Induction card.

An OHS auditing qualification and experience and understanding of workplace health and safety practices in the construction industry is desirable but not mandatory.
