Our Business
Join Brisbane City Council's Asphalt and Aggregates team and play an important role in maintaining and improving Brisbane's road network. We are seeking safety-focused and reliable truck drivers who enjoy working outdoors, operating heavy vehicles and contributing to a high-performing team. As a Skilled Team Member Asphalt Truck Driver, you will operate heavy vehicles to transport asphalt safely and efficiently while supporting road construction and maintenance activities across Brisbane.
Our Branch
Asphalt and Aggregates oversee the management of Council's quarries and road surfacing operations, including the laying and repair of asphalt pavements, minor pothole repairs and road line marking. The branch consists of three core business units: Road Resurfacing, Asphalt Production and Quarries.
The Role
In this role, you will:
- operate and tip heavy vehicles safely on roads and construction sites
- transport asphalt and related materials to support operational requirements
- conduct vehicle pre-start inspections and routine maintenance checks
- maintain trucks and equipment to required housekeeping standards
- undertake labouring duties using hand tools and plant equipment, including rollers and vibratory plate compactors
- follow directions from supervisors and authorised traffic controllers
- complete administrative requirements including timesheets, work diaries and incident reports
- work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- contribute to a positive, customer-focused workplace culture.

Mandatory Requirements
- Current Heavy Rigid (HR) or Heavy Combination (HC) Driver Licence.
- Construction Industry White Card (or the ability to obtain one prior to commencement).
Skills and Experience
- experience operating and tipping heavy vehicles in both road and construction environments
- demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety practices
- experience undertaking manual labouring duties and operating associated plant and equipment
- strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to contribute positively to team performance and continuous improvement
- well-developed customer service skills with the ability to resolve issues effectively.
Desirable
- knowledge of Brisbane's road network
- understanding of TORUM legislation relating to heavy vehicles.
