Salary Range: Band 7 $132,572 - $144,942 + Superannuation

(Remuneration stated is for the full-time positions)

Work type: Temporary Full-time - 2-year duration

Location: Brisbane Square

The Role

As the Principal Treasury Analyst you will provide specialist value-adding expertise and advice in order to effectively manage Brisbane City Council's organisational cash flow, surplus funds, investment and borrowing strategies and financial market transactions managing risk. Operating as a senior technical specialist, the position ensures compliance with treasury policies and legislative requirements, while contributing to Council’s financial sustainability and risk management maturity.

To be successful you will have:

  • relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related discipline 
  • demonstrated evidence of capabilities in Council’s Leadership Blueprint to deliver performance excellence and a values-based culture
  • ability to contribute to team direction, give and receive feedback and achieve agreed performance standards in order to contribute to a culture of performance excellence
  • demonstrated experience of undertaking research and analysis of organisational cash flows and financial risks to provide timely, professional and strategic advice to management including proven comprehensive understanding of emerging issues or risks
  • substantial experience of utilising comprehensive knowledge of financial markets and products to accurately identify, model, evaluate and execute high value financial market transactions, including foreign exchange, interest rates, energy and carbon and financing options such as leasing
  • proven high level interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to build and maintain good working relationships at all levels of an organisation as well as external relationships
  • demonstrated organisation skills, working with minimal supervision, problem solving and organising allocated work to meet tight deadlines in an environment of competing priorities
  • well-developed experience in the use of financial management systems, Microsoft Excel, business software packages and corporate accounting systems
