Our Business
Support Services sits within Corporate Services and delivers critical shared services that enable Council’s front-line operations. Within this, Payment and Supply Services manages elements of the procurement value stream, supplier payments, and the storage and movement of inventory across Council.
The Role
This role is responsible for leading Council’s end-to-end warehouse and logistics operations, ensuring the consistent, safe and efficient movement of goods, equipment and materials across multiple sites and service areas.
You will lead a multi-disciplinary operation covering warehouse facilities, distribution, fleet logistics and associated services, with accountability for performance, safety, customer outcomes and continuous improvement.
A key focus of the role is to modernise and optimise logistics operations by leveraging data, systems and contemporary supply chain practices, while maintaining strong service delivery in a complex and high-volume environment.
You will:
- lead and manage warehouse, distribution and logistics operations across Council, ensuring services run reliably and efficiently end-to-end
- drive a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with WHS legislation, training and operational standards
- embed performance frameworks, including KPIs and reporting, to track service delivery and identify improvements
- oversee workforce planning and operational resourcing across a workforce of ~30 staff, ensuring agility to meet changing demand
- work closely with procurement, finance and customer areas to deliver a seamless supply chain experience
- identify and implement improvements to systems, processes and service models to enhance efficiency and customer outcomes
- manage stakeholder relationships across a large and complex organisation, balancing operational priorities with service expectations
This is a highly visible leadership role where success will come from balancing operational delivery, strategic improvement and stakeholder engagement.
To be successful you will have:
- experience managing warehouse and logistics operations in a large, complex environment, supported by modern systems and technology
- proven leadership of high performing teams, with a strong focus on safety, service delivery and continuous improvement
- demonstrated ability to deliver high-volume, customer-focused services within a shared services or similarly complex environment
- strong commercial acumen, with the ability to translate operational improvements into sustainable business outcomes
- well-developed stakeholder management and influencing skills across large organisations
- experience applying WHS and HR frameworks within operational environments
- alignment to Council’s Leadership Blueprint and ability to lead a values-based, performance-focused culture
