Our Branch  

Infrastructure Services Group (ISG) delivers Council’s asset management, planning, design, construction, maintenance and transport operations. Within ISG, Public Space Operations maintains Brisbane’s parks, roadside corridors and community spaces. The Role  

As a Greenspace Team Member, you’ll be part of a hands‑on crew responsible for maintaining and developing Brisbane’s parks and roadside landscapes. This role suits someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in quality workmanship and values being part of a supportive operational team. 

You’ll work closely with your Team Leader to deliver a variety of horticultural, vegetation management and general maintenance activities that keep Brisbane’s greenspaces healthy, safe and great to use. You’ll also receive on‑the‑job training to grow your skills in horticulture, machinery operation, and safe chemical application. 

In this role you will: 

  • carry out planting, trimming, mulching, hedging and other horticultural maintenance 
  • assist with identifying pests, diseases and weeds and apply appropriate treatments 
  • undertake vegetation control activities including chemical, mechanical and biological methods 
  • conduct formative tree pruning and basic arboriculture tasks 
  • maintain park assets, garden beds, irrigation, pathways and general infrastructure 
  • operate and maintain a range of machinery, equipment and vehicles  
  • follow WHS practices, environmental legislation and Council standards to ensure safe work 
  • contribute to team goals by giving and receiving feedback and supporting a positive team culture 

To be successful you will have: 

  • experience in parks and/or roadside landscape maintenance, vegetation management or horticulture 
  • experience using horticultural tools, machinery and equipment 
  • knowledge of plant identification, weed and pest control and safe chemical application techniques 
  • the ability to work as part of a team, contribute to shared goals and give/receive feedback 
  • sound communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with team members and customers 
  • ability to maintain accurate work records and use field‑based tablets or similar technology. 
  • Desirable: 
  • Certificate III in Horticulture 
  • Chainsaw Level 1, TORUM/Heavey Vehicle National Law Training, Traffic Management Implementation, ACDC Commercial Operator Licence.
