Our Team – International Relations and Multicultural Affairs
We provide strategic leadership, guidance and support for all international activities undertaken on behalf of Brisbane City Council. As the official liaison for international contact and communication, we ensure opportunities for Brisbane are maximised, coordinated and strategically driven, while creating meaningful connections for Brisbane’s multicultural business communities. In this role, you will collaborate closely alongside Council’s Brisbane 2032 Host City team and the Economic Development team, working at the forefront of initiatives that shape Brisbane’s global future.

Join Brisbane City Council’s International Relations and Multicultural Affairs team and play a key role in delivering projects, programs, and events that create economic, civic, and cultural impact, which aligned with the bold vision of the Economic Development Plan 2031.
This is your opportunity to drive high-profile initiatives such as Sister City partnerships, business missions, mayoral visits, and the award-winning Asia Pacific Cities Summit (APCS) & Mayors’ Forum. You’ll also champion multicultural programs like the Lord Mayor’s Multicultural Business Awards and Scholarship Program, fostering diversity and inclusion across Brisbane.
To be successful you will have:
- ability to contribute to team direction and a culture of performance excellence
- experience in the delivery of events and projects in a multicultural context
- project management and organisational skills, utilised to manage competing priorities, project scoping, engagement, monitoring, tracking and reporting
- sharp research, analytical and problem-solving skills, an ability to develop reports
- excellent interpersonal skills to assist working with multicultural stakeholders
- demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with competing priorities
- understanding of international customs, cultural sensitivities, protocols, multicultural affairs and international business practices
- ability to develop and maintain relationships to facilitate economic development
- proficiency in a language other than English from a key global region, highly regarded.
It is highly desirable, that you have experience in event and project management principles or use of project management software, alongside an industry recognised qualification.
