The Role

As a Senior Urban Planner in the Infrastructure Agreements Team, you will manage a portfolio of complex infrastructure delivery matters, and associated planning issues. Working with customers, consultants, and stakeholders, you will help achieve high-quality development outcomes for Brisbane.

This role involves project managing the lifecycle of infrastructure delivery on behalf of Council through Infrastructure Agreements, from initial negotiation through to the administration and the handover of Council assets relating to trunk and non-trunk infrastructure. You will work with a range of internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the future development of the city.

You will provide planning advice on complex planning matters, interpret legislation, negotiate practical solutions, and coordinate input from multiple areas across Council to progress applications and projects effectively.

This role suits an experienced planner who enjoys project work, solving complex issues, building relationships, and influencing outcomes in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

To be successful, you will have:

  •  A strong understanding of infrastructure delivery under the Planning Act 2016, with regard to trunk and non-trunk infrastructure.
  • Experience in Infrastructure charges under the Brisbane Infrastructure Charges Resolution associated with Development Approvals
  • Extensive experience in development assessment within local government or a similar planning environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the Planning Act 2016 and the ability to apply planning legislation to complex development matters.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Highly developed negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build consensus among customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, initiative, and a proactive approach to managing complex planning matters.
