Our Branch
Within Support Services, Employee Services operationalise Council's HR processes managing the delivery of recruitment, learning and development and general HR functions and include payroll services across all areas of Council. We work closely with our process owners in the People and Culture branch.
About our team
Our team has two levels of recruitment professionals: Talent Consultants and Talent Partners. Both roles provide diversity, exposure to a variety of roles as well as diverse and interesting customers. Talent Consultants facilitate general recruitment and bulk campaigns while Talent Partners will also be required to manage more senior talent sourcing, including executive recruitment.

The role
As the Recruitment and Talent Acquisition Team Leader, you’ll lead a team delivering end-to-end recruitment across Council’s diverse portfolio (more than 400 role types, from apprentices and trades to specialist professional and executive appointments). You’ll partner with leaders across the organisation to provide confident, practical advice, prioritise and allocate work, and ensure a consistent, customer-focused and inclusive recruitment experience. You’ll coach and mentor recruiters to build capability and lift performance.
What does success look like as a Recruitment and Talent Acquisition Team Leader?
You’ll be an effective, people-oriented leader with a skill set aligned to:
Leadership and stakeholder engagement
- drive performance and a positive team culture through clear expectations, accountability and role-modelling
- manage high-level stakeholder relationships by listening, influencing, and providing confident, pragmatic advice
- think on your feet and remain solutions-focused, navigating ambiguity and removing barriers for customers and the team
Coaching, mentoring and recruitment capability
- coach and mentor recruiters to deliver high-quality, customer-focused end-to-end recruitment outcomes
- use data-driven insights and talent mapping to prioritise workload, lift performance and improve candidate and hiring manager experience
- lead best-practice sourcing and attraction approaches (including for hard-to-fill and senior roles) and support the team to promote our employee value proposition
People leadership and emotional intelligence
- lead with emotional intelligence, building trust, rapport and connection across a diverse team
- create a coaching culture with continuous knowledge sharing, meaningful feedback and support for development
- Foster psychological safety while maintaining momentum, focus and accountability for results
