In achieving this vision, Brisbane City Council needs dynamic, passionate and forward-thinking leaders to help guide the organisation.

Brisbane City Council is by population the largest local government in Australia, with assets over $34 billion and an annual budget of over $4 billion. Our responsibility is to provide leadership for the people of Brisbane and to manage our resources to create a vibrant, successful, and liveable city for the future. We work in partnership with a variety of governments, peak bodies, industries, and community organisations to build a better Brisbane.

Our Branch

Engineering and Asset Management is responsible for establishing and regularly reviewing fleet maintenance policies and standards, management of bus maintenance processes, procurement of bus fleet and associated products and services and investigation and review of incidents involving the bus fleet and/or other Transport for Brisbane infrastructure. We also oversee the management of non-bus facilities and assets, management and coordination of major projects and coordination of divisional information technology requirements.

The Role

Reporting to the General Manager of Engineering & Asset Management, this critical senior leadership position will oversee all facets of Transport for Brisbane's Fleet Maintenance Operations. The role oversees a team of circa 350 staff consisting of technical, professional and operational employees and a fleet of more than 1200 bus and metro vehicles across 8 depots. Responsibilities encompass first and second-line maintenance, repair, fleet enhancement initiatives, and cultivating commercial alliances. Operating within a customer and people-centric environment, this role necessitates fostering and guiding a high performing workforce, promoting the sharing of engineering expertise, and ensuring the provision of safe and economical services while advancing Brisbane's public transport towards zero-emission technology.

About you

Council is seeking a values-based senior leader who can successfully motivate a large diverse workforce, whilst maintaining superior levels of service delivery in a public facing environment. With significant experience leading maintenance operations for large/complex fleets or similar, you will have a continuous improvement and safety mindset with demonstrated experience building engaged teams, driving standardisation and efficiencies. We are particularly interested in candidates who have an appreciation and acceptance of the nuances in a large-scale operating environment who demonstrate strong leadership capabilities in line with Council’s Leadership Blueprint. Your experience will be underpinned by qualifications relevant to commercial maintenance, manufacturing, repair operations or similar.
